The ballot in the Plebiscite vote will read:
Please answer yes if you agree with the statement below, or no if you disagree.
The Cannabis Control Board and the Cannabis Control Law shall regulate all cannabis business activity in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory through licencing and other control mechanisms set out in the Law.
A 50% + 1 vote is required for the Law to pass. If it is accepted implementation will begin July 2, 2020, if it is rejected it may trigger a community meeting and a second vote. If a second vote also fails then the Law will be considered to have been rejected by the community.
There are two ways to vote in the MBQ plebiscite on the proposed Cannabis Control Law.
1. Show up in person on November 16: You can go straight to Mohawk Administration Office located at 24 Meadow Drive, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory from 9:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m in order to vote in person.
2. Electronically through onefeather.ca: Using this link: https://onefeather.ca/nations/mbq-tmt visit onefeather.ca. On the right of your screen click on the “Register to Vote” button. You will have to provide your date of birth and status card number in order to vote.
Eligibility: Any band member over 18 who has not been previously disqualified may vote. You can find a copy of the voters list at the Mohawk Administration Office.
